This week I've been working on the Act 2 monsters. I decided to start with the residents of HoppyKin Village. I think the girl turned out pretty well, although I may tweak her hip/waist ratio a little. Girl's seriously got too much junk in the trunk.
The dude however was a bit more of an experiment for me. I wanted to try & make a tall, thin character. In some spots I think I did well, but the relative sizes of each body part are off. Like I think the calfs are too short, while the torso is too long, and the thighs came out really really thin. His hands are also too small, but if I enlarge them, the back hand goes from 'off'' to 'WTF'.
So, more work to do here, but honestly pretty happy with them so far. I'll come back & touch them up in a few weeks, once the rest of the badguys are drawn. If y'all have been just dying to give me some artist feedback, now's your chance.

I have a suggestion for the guys hands. Look at how you have the females hands. Shes holding a two handed staff, and her hands actually look quite nice and proportionate. Temporarily transfer the staff to the guy and make the hands there (even if only the 'foreground' hand) with that at a size you like (slightly larger or even with the females) then the back hand wont look as 'off' (once enlarged) because it will fit the foreground hand.
ReplyDeleteThis is just my opinon but if make the male hands and feet a little bit larger it should correct the Portion issue. Also it might be a good idea on keeping the empty hands in a fist it will save you time later on if you make some basic rules for how your characters willl look.
ReplyDeleteI've always found that taking a picture of yourself in a position you wish to mimic and use that as a reference is the best way to draw. So if you are looking for 'perfect' proportions, take a picture of yourself or look up a few side shots of actor profiles or something. That'll give you the best idea of what to try.

Also, I think the the guys forearms could be a little thicker. Maybe that's just me, though.
ReplyDeleteI can't really give any feedback due to being fairly terrible at art but I was thinking that maybe you should release an updated demo once act 2 is finished. It'll help in getting more of the attention that you deserve in my opinion.
ReplyDeleteThe Girl looks neat :D Will we finally see some f/f interactions (yes I know the pirate vixen, but it's hard enough to get something out of the short and crowded encounter ;) ). The girls WILL BE *real* girls, right? No Strap-ons or futa stuff, right? Right? *hope*

yo man that junk in the trunk is nice, and for your first opinion even though I wasn't asked yet, I want to see something where it is kind of like a power struggle where you can feel the energy flowing, upon victory the obvious escape, upon defeat however a slow loss of cloths, and then a supreme dominant screwing throwing the character into ever growing submission and giving in, with a final climax in a very dominant implanting the seed kind of position.
