I've got 99 problems but this beta ain't one.

Okay, more like a dozen or so real life issues & commitments that are going to take me away from coding for a few weeks, but that's not how the song goes.  And they aren't all problems either, some of them will be fun.  But, I need to really get off my ass & get to work on them, which means I won't be working on this between now & the release date.  So, hey, crazy idea, why not release now?  =)




*Hm... typical.  Now when I try to open the link it says 'file can't be scanned & try back later'.  Awesome.  Well, this worked fine for my last test.  I'll give it a few hours & see if 'trying back later' actually does anything.
**K,  I removed an extra . from the file name (was 0.30, now 030) and it seems to be working now.  Fingers crossed.
** Fuck. Okay, link is dead again. I really don't know why this time. I attempted to re-link a few times, and it just doesn't seem to work anymore. Dunno if google docs changed their settings or what. Good news is the game has been mirrored to a few sites by now. You can find it on the legend of krystal forums here or on SWFchan here.


I have no idea what my bandwidth limit is, nor if I'm somehow 'cheating' Google docs by using them to host this.  Regardless, please feel free to copy/mirror/host your own copies.   I'd like to keep my bandwidth low, just in case.

I managed to have a lot more done than I expected when I set the release date last month, but there's still tons to do, and some old bugs have cropped up that I thought I had already defeated.  :(  I'll be discussing the game a lot more over the next month or so.  Now that it's playable, there's some ideas that I don't like nearly as much as I had originally hoped (for example, grapples spend too much time playing the arrow game, imo). 

I'm going to make a quick list of bugs that I know about below.  Feel free to add more in the comments section as they appear.

Known Bugs:

-Playing horde mode past ~50 monsters can cause some mobs to move twice as fast, or die & stand back up again.

- Grapple arrows can get stuck & won't respawn until the grapple is finished.

- Immediate back to back grapples can cause the zoom to get out of sync.  I have some catches in there to fix it, but I still managed to have a grapple today where the second grapple was stuck in the wrong mode.  If this happens, just sit back & enjoy, there's not much you can do but wait.

- Immediate back to back grapple-grapple, grapple-inventory, or inventory-inventory changes can cause the game to get completely stuck.  (It's caused by interrupting the ending of one with the other).  If you can't move at all & nothing is happening, you'll likely need to restart.

- Throwing damaged armor on the ground & picking it back up again will heal the armor up to the nearest 25 health.  "It's not a bug, it's a feature!" - old programming joke.

- Sometimes sound will stop, and it will stay off until you restart the program.  Unlike most of the other bugs, I have no idea what's causing this one, I hope it's my sound card.

- If you die during a double-team grab, the second monster will become invisible & invulnerable. If it's the pirate boss this will prevent you from leaving the room.

- Mashing buttons during a scene change can cause the game to lock up.

  1. First, I didn't notice any of the bugs that you noted. Though I didn't play hoard mode either. I also did experiement with all 3 character classes.

    Over all, I think that what you've shown us here is certainly quite a starting pieces. I also liked how you implimented both male, female, and monster aspects into the starting area. I didn't pay too much attention to the transitions in the sex scenes on the first play, but I'll likely look at them more closely on replays.

    On a more traditional gameplay aspect, the three different classes did feel that they played out a little different. The Warrior could instantly break open doors and move about easier while the Mage had to go to engineering due to a lack of body to scale the ropes. Everyone can get to the same end result, but its a matter of problem solving as to how. Clever uses of this can make an element of problem-solving, as long as it doesn't become too frustrating.

    My biggest "complaint", if there would be one, is that K-Fox tends to be grappled more often as a martial artist then actually attacking then the other two. Though, this is likely because she is a martial artist and thus doesn't have any sort of reach like the warrior or mage does. Of course, she also doesn't have the same restrictions they do either, so for an immediate set-back, she might end up coming out on top.

    My only suggestion would be to include a method of clothing repair. Most likely by a consumable item like a nano-repair tool or something. I may have more later on, but I'll post them then.

  2. One Bug I noticed is that when you are grabbed by a pirate then the fox mini-boss. If you get KO'ed by the dual grapple and have to continue, the fox basically becomes invisible and invincible.

    So in the fight in the engineering, I had defeated all the pirates but kept taking damage from the invisible fox.

  3. Hey, great game. Just reporting a single bug, and a suggestion.

    Bug: If the player presses the "a" key when performing an action using the space bar it will result in the inability to move, and the only way to correct it is to either press "s" or "d"

    Suggestion: I noticed that when playing as Lei-Lei, grapple scenarios go by so fast that the player is normally unable to complete an armor save, or see any of the various sex positions. I'm not sure what the fix would be, but I dislike this feature, and I'd like it to be more akin to that of Farah's grapple time.

    Are you sure? I just spent the last 5 minutes trying to re-create this problem, and I'm not seeing it. Could this be a browser specific issue? Where exactly is this happening? Does it happen every time?

  6. About the movement bug. It's not browser specific. I've replicated it in a standalone flashplayer as well. But I think my description was totally off. It only seems to happen when you go up an elevator or through a door (anything that goes to black screen)

    to re-create:
    1.) perform action that results in blackscreen
    2.) during blackscreen tap "a" repeatedly
    3.) when you are returned to the next scene, you will be unable to move.

    It seems to happen randomly, so try to do it a bunch, i'm sure it'll happen.

  8. Yeah no problem man, your game fucking rules. I know it's not that big of a bug (who's really gonna sit and mash a during blackscreens to the point that it's actually problematic...) nonetheless I'm glad you're dedicated to finding bugs and fixing them.

  9. This game is great so far. I love the method of going from one type of dominance to another. The vixen bandit + regular bandit group I can't get to the dominant stance. She escapes too quickly, or when my luck is bad they die or I die.

    In horde mode, I've noticed that characters don't despawn when knocked out at a regular rate. the ship's crew-zombies take a long time before they vanish, and twice now when there were possibly too many objects on screen, one of the bandit vixens went semi-transparent, standing in place and whipping. The regular bandits have done similar, but not transparent. They stayed until they were injured for another lifebar (roughly). Did not grapple.

    Any of the enemies will turn invisible and invulnerable if they knock you out and you continue during a 3-way. The vixen is most noted for it because they still have their regular melee attacks and the whip has great range. I have seen the hero flinch and take a little damage as if punched before. The flaw here is that it's the second enemy to join a grapple that will become invisible should you have to continue. If it's two bandits, one will poof. If you grapple a bandit and the vixen joins in, she becomes invis.
    If the vixen becomes invisible, run to one of the white crates (I go right) and keep walking, she will eventually whip/stun you through it and you can go to the next room (grab a pipe or two on the way out!) and when you return the event is reset (try again).

    I think having more frames than the others for the enemy knocked-out animations is the problem with them disappearing sooner than others.

    Again, keep this up, it's a great game for a demo. Art is art and of course is easy to fix/update once all the coding's done.

  10. DirtyC, love the game man. It's one of the very few LoK indie projects that I can say has great potential. Even as a beta I've still played it over and over for hours.

    I just wish and hope and pray that one day someone will actually show a little vag. Hike her leg upward and let's see some penetration! It made me cry when Lei-Lei raised her leg and rubbed her nothingness-between-her-hip-parts against the enemy.

  11. There're some little problems. It is quite hard in Crew Bay, a pirate girl is whipping with a long range weapon, pirates are spawning, more and more, with no scent. This stage is really hard. It is impossible to beat this stage with no damage or lost armor. Especially, when Player grappled by 2 pirates, progress bar, it shifting goes to be really hard. I tried to hit arrows as fast as I can, but can never reach the edge. It stays about 1/4 of bar and I can't progress for more.

    When shifting, 3~4 arrows is quita easy. 6~7 arrows will be challenging. 11~12 arrows will be much harder and challenging. Try to increase arrows pattern or decrease the delay(for arrows be formed) so the players can shift the bar faster than before.

    Respawn is the problem, too. When I go in the room via a door, I grappled by enemy as soon as I go in the room.

  13. Actually, there IS a rather good porn game, though it's more game than porn. It's called The Legend of Queen Opala. When you're not coding, look it up sometime, you might get a kick out of it.

  14. You should add an option so that the player can get more cum on them.

    I would like it also if the cum on her pussy was more visible.

    And maybe give a location for a dildo so she can have more positions?

  15. Wow, I just started learning Flash and AS 3. You're pretty good! Your actually not bad at the art stuff either.

    This source code released by Playshapes is an amazing opening to infinite possibilities! I've had an interest in remaking and adding to his source code myself. This summer I finally will have the time to sit down, study, and learn AS3 and Flash.

    I'm even considering ripping a character I saw to put in it. Well, if I can, I have heard about a resizing issue that may come up...

    Don't worry though, I wouldn't rip your character... That would be f'd up on my part.

    If you actually have time to answer, is AS3 that difficult to learn?

    I have a programming background, but I actually haven't programmed in 3d yet.
    I'm guessing that is the tricky part of AS3...
